adgyth (Sarah Waddington)
Anglo-Saxon Lady
Group LHE Coordinator

iography
Eadgyth is the only child of Oslac and Wulfwyn and was born in the village of Aldredelie (Alderley). She spent her youth at her father's hall learning how to run an estate and the other skills required of a woman of her rank.

Eadgyth was first betrothed to Wulfnoth - the son of Eolderman Edwin, and she went to live with her new family at their home at Newentone (Newton) near the city of Legacaester (Chester). Unfortunately, Wulfnoth died of fever not long before they were due to be married.

In 934 Eadgyth was again betrothed, this time to Aelfric - a rich and ambitious young nobleman with a reputation as a warrior, with whom she had formed an attachment. In 936, with trouble brewing in the north, they were married at Lord Aelfric's hall at Cedde (Cheadle).

Following her fathers death in battle at Brunnanburh, Eadgyth is now a substantial landowner and is known for her fiery temper. She recently gave birth to a son; Athelstan, while her husband was on campaign against the Welsh.
