iography
Alric was born in Cedde (Cheadle), Cheshire - the third son of Wadda and Gundhild, and younger brother to Aelfric. Like many younger sons, it was intended that Alric make a career in the Church.
However, his warlike spirit made him unsuited to such a vocation and he left his clerical training at an early age following several fights with classmates. Alric had always shown a keen interest and aptitude for the warrior arts and, as a result, his father trained him to a competent level.
On Wadda's death, Alric was well provided for in his father's will, and inherited a smattering of estates across the shire. Alric's first taste of real battle came at Brunnanburh where he fought side by side with his brother, fighting with great courage before a wound to the thigh ended his participation.
In the years since Brunnanburh Alric has continued to pursue a military career, fighting with King Eadmund against King Olaf of Jorvic and with the men of Mercia against the Welsh.
